Moda 22 is in the number 48 of Llull Street. You have to go to the first floor with an industrial elevator. There is a Green door with a number 22, the name of the space. I had never been in a coworking space before but when you go to one is when you really can see how everything Works. That experience allows to me understand the concept in the right way. Ecoology and Sueños de Lucia are two of this designers ‘group MADE IN SPAIN

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0196.JPGb2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0150.JPG

Designers need a physical spot where they can créate, design and sew. Sometimes you don’t have it, so it is when you go to a coworking space like Moda 22. This place brings to the designers the orientation and all the information and advices that an emergent designer needs to have a successful Brand.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0225.JPG

The place is such a nice and big space. When you enter you can see a Little reception with coaches, a Little kitchen and offices. The offices are desks where each designer can Project their style and bringing a personal touch. There are tables to make patterns and sewing machines. Also there is a door of glass and behind it you can find the Moda 22 showroom. There is where you can see all the designers clothing and collections.

The philosophy of the coworking spaces like Moda 22 is the creation of a platform where the entrepreneur can accelerate the business development and their projects. Moda 22 objective is impulse designers ‘talent and become in autonomous entrepreneur.

Atemporal eco chic Made in Spain

b2ap3_thumbnail_39_r_skirt_0017_700_side.jpg

¿Famoso preferido / celebrity crush?

Diane Kruger

One of the most important points for the fashion inspiration in New York is the East Village. If you walk around the streets You can see upcoming trends, like a catwalk with the next season clothes.

The limits of this zone are from Third street until Bowery street until the East part of the river, between 14th and Houston street. A place that emanates culture. On the one hand it is the house of some artistic movements like Punkrock and Nuyorican. Why Am I explaining that? Because on the other hand, absolutelly everything in that place has something special: stores, propale, streets... That spark let you know that place create and move trendies, ideas and inspiration. You can see it in the graffities in the street, in the stores decoration or in the Way How they serve coffee.

Guiëm, the menswear brand that launched its first Spring-Summer 2014 collection last March, now presents its new collection for this Fall-Winter 2014-15, in which nature and the desire to escape from monotony take center stage.

b2ap3_thumbnail_F1000011.JPG

Warm and comfortable fabrics, combined with soft and flattering patterns and geometric and colorful prints, results in versatile, unique and easy to wear garments, that help us into a parallel universe, far from noise, chasing the winter sun rays that slip between the branches of the trees.

b2ap3_thumbnail_F1000037.JPGb2ap3_thumbnail_F7.JPG

Quality materials and careful tailoring define the foundation of the brand. The fabrics used in this new collection are mostly cotton, also betting on organic and recycled materials in some of the clothes. The production is carried out entirely in Spain, in small runs and taking care of every detail to get clothes that will last in time.

The color is again a fundamental value in the collection: red, blue or yellow, on gray, black and white bases, create a color balance combined with exclusive prints created for this season.

b2ap3_thumbnail_F1000005.JPG

A collection in which the hoodies abound, but there is also space for shirts, t-shirts and some bow ties, and that is now available through the online store http://shop.beinfashionspain.com/en/

Remember now FREE SHIPPING!

Behind this project is Guillem Llull, a Majorcan entrepreneur living in Madrid, advertiser and lover of fashion since childhood, seeking for an own and distinctive style through his collections.

How did the brand start?

It started as a dream come true. I am a person that studied economics and I had the fashion as a hobby, but after a while I decided to make something that makes me happy and Aiby Craft was born. I believe in the eco fashion and the slow movement and it is for that I tried to use natural textiles and re use old ones. After my first steps I started to investigate and the eco luxury was my choice of making fashion.

b2ap3_thumbnail_AIBY-Craft-VFNO-2014.jpg

Elegant and modern and always being sensual.

What is the philosophy of the brand?

Eco luxury. I thiknk is the best way to express the sustainability, hand made work and the exclusivity.

BHAVA is a women's fashion shoe brand founded by designers Francisca Pineda and Rushali A. Sanghani.  The duo first met in 2006 while collaborating on runway accessories for Cynthia Rowley in Hong Kong.  Bhava is named after the designers' shared devotion to purity and consideration for others, the highest form of Bhava.

Francisca has come to Spain to visit some retailers with Beiñ. In these days Francisca has known how fashion industry works here and she wants to come back very soon. Now we are going to talk a little bit with  her about fashion industry, spanish fashion and much more.

b2ap3_thumbnail_FRANCISCA_grande.jpg

Why did you decide to manufacture in Spain?

In NY I am a member of a small SHOEMAKING group with many industry professionals.  Several of the members had mentioned the high quality of the Spanish footwear industry, and their positive experience.  I started asking around my contacts and was able to be introduced to several factories which I will be starting to produce with this Fall for  a high quality black label range in the Bhava assortment.

What are your favorite textiles to manufacture?

Bhava is a brand that puts ethical sourcing of local, artisan, and eco-conscious materials at the fore front.  For our next collection we are very excited to introduce new textures and hand painted details that the market has not yet seen in footwear.  We are always looking to break through boundaries of "traditional" footwear materials and introduce artisan products like hand-painted exotic embossed cork, or inlays of fine locally sourced metal mesh.  Every collection introduces a new idea, and is inspired but thinking outside the box for new materials from limited edition exclusive sources that have not yet been imported into the US.  We've also collaborated with artisans on limited edition runs of hand woven fabric that have been very well received by customers and retailers.

"There is a wonderful sense of play and fantasy in the work or the Spanish emerging designers."

b2ap3_thumbnail_la-foto-2_20140930-173733_1.JPG

What do you think about Spanish fashion? And the spanish emerging designers?

The word that kept running through my head when I was in Madrid during fashion week and seeing the designs from the emerging designers was a subtle underlying feeling of "surrealism".  It's not easy to describe , but there is a wonderful sense of play and fantasy in the work or the Spanish emerging designers.   Combined with an attention to detail, knowledge of high quality fabric treatments and flawless presentation,  I am very inspired by these designers and strength of the maker movement that I saw specifically in Barcelona.  Several of the apparel and accessory shops had open studios where you can see the product being made right in front of your eyes.  Authenticity, attention to detail, and effortless creativity are what you can expect from Spain's emerging designers.

b2ap3_thumbnail_sadie_large.jpg

Which steps do you think that designers must to follow to get into US market?

Before entering any market it is important to evaluate wether your product is right for each specific state and city in the the US, for example, California is very different from NY.  Once you have established what city your product works best in, it is important to research the small boutiques in those cities and contact those whose aesthetic and price point are the best fit.  Instagram, is very important here as well, and following the accounts of the local based retailers will give you a good idea of who their customer is and what are their most featured products are.  Having a line sheet priced landed, in US dollars will make it easier for boutiques to see if your product will fit in their assortment.  Most important is to put yourself in the boutique owner's feet and imagine how best to communicate the differentiating factors that your product brings to market that no one else can compete with.  Fashion is about what is new, you should be excited about presenting your collection and clear on why you think you can add value to their store.

"The US is one of the largest consumer economies, and in a luxury price point demands the high quality and attention to detail that can be found in Spain."

What do you think the US market offers to fashion designers?

I see two things happening in the fashion industry right now.  Opportunities for niche designs are opening up as e-commerce has increased the variety of choice that is available.  In some ways, niche shopping is creating mini-communities supporting indie designers, these seem small, but because of the increased international visibility of all designers all around the world there is an increased audience. Some things are getting very small and specific , while others are growing and increasing.  The US is one of the largest consumer economies, and in a luxury price point demands the high quality and attention to detail that can be found in Spain, because of this there is a demand for European made quality not just in the US but increasingly in Asia and other parts of the world that are looking to differentiate their assortment with authenticity and the centuries of craftsmanship that can be seen in countries like Spain.

 b2ap3_thumbnail_la-foto-1_20140930-173718_1.JPG

What do you think about Beiñ team & work?

I have known the Beiñ team for a few years now as we have collaborated on events and now through my work in Spain.  Gloria and her team have always impressed me with their  professionalism, positive attitude, and attention to detail.  From an event flyer to organizing meetings, every detail and logistic is carefully planned to ensure success.  I highly recommend Beiñ for their experience, hard work, and the genuine passion that they put into every project.

In 2013 the sales in men´s clothing rose up 10% in USA (Bein&CO) meanwhile women´s clothing only rose up a 0,9% in the same period. The world market for menswear is expected to exceed $402 billion in 2014.

Now men are more worry about fashion, trends and look attractive, they like to go shopping inspired in men´s magazines as GQ, Esquire or Men´s Health. In the past few years there were some men icons inside fashion that became influencers or top bloggers as The Sartorialist. The fashion industry is not only for women. Time and culture changes everyday and this is the result.

Now we are living in a fashion trend called UNIXEX or ANDROGYNOUS, but Is it only a fleeting trend?

"The androgynous fashion is taking more and more strength, understanding it more as an ambiguous mind than a traditional one , a vision that don´t know about gender. It is not just clothes, is a way to express yourself and show it to others, forgetting stereotypes of "masculine" fashion or "feminine." We choose clothing that suits us well and speaks of us, whether girl or boy. Unisex fashion is gaining ground." This is what the designer of Guiëm says about the androgynous trend however is not only women wearing men clothing. Some designers in NYFW presented men collections wearing their models in a more feminism way,

Hey all you fashion lovers! Hope everyone is keeping up with this New York heat! A little brutal? Yes. But DO NOT WORRY...because I have just the perfect fashion fix for that: Costalmel’s graphic t-shirts. Nothing screams summer fashion like breezy t-shirts with prints that embody the summer feel. These urban street style pieces are a staple for a summer wardrobe.

madeinspaindesigners

Their current collection includes short-sleeve and sleeveless t-shirts for both men and women with prints including my favorite summer fruit, PINEAPPLES (yum), florals, and Mexican skulls. They mix these fun prints with j’adore illustrations that are not only eye catching but also jaw dropping.

Made out of 100% cotton, these easy-breezy shirts can uphold the brutal summer heat but can also be transitioned into the fall. There is nothing better to have than versatile pieces that you can style year around to fit the changing seasons. The base color of all of Costalemel’s shirts come in different shades of white (depending on the style), which cannot scream STAPLE PIECE enough. The fact that the actual t-shirt is a shade of white with a colored illustration, makes it that much easier to just pair it with about anything.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0816.JPG

REMEMBER: It’s the summer, so have fun playing with colors and mixing different prints within your tops and bottoms. Fashion is supposed to be fearless so go get them!

One of the biggest fashion do’s of the past few seasons has been to mix streetwear with couture. Its been seen all over the catwalks and it is still prevailing. We’ve seen it in collections like Chanel, where dresses are mixed with sneakers and in Kanye West’s Paris debut where he swore by it. It brings the higher and the lower end of fashion into one, which I think is great. I am a huge fan of the trend and think it is super fun. It brings out an urban, effortless edge out of all of us.

Hello! Hola! First and foremost, hope everyone had a great 4th of July! If you guys recall, my latest pic on Instagram is one of myself wearing one of our very own brands, Red&Rouge. The brand makes amazing handmade, artisanal turbans! Can you say J’ADORE?! The craze for headpieces is at its peak this year and I could not be more excited! They turn a basic outfit into a head turner…all with a simple touch!

Turbans have been everywhere lately and are staying for a few more seasons. I recently read an article on WWD.com called “Resort 2015 Trend: Gentle Women”. Pictured were these amazing women in resort 2015 collections with nonetheless TURBANS! As I flipped the pages I totally pictured myself in various outfits with similar fab pieces on my head! I instantaneously went home and grabbed my Red&Rouge turbans out for a spin!

Below I will post a few pics of how you can wear them. Hope they serve as an inspiration to you gals! These pieces are so versatile and easy-peasy! I am not much of an accessories person but I have been drawn into this trend. It can make you stand out with just one simple addition. You can even skip on the jewelry or just pull one on when you’re having a bad hair day! It is definitely a piece everyone should invest in. They give you a ‘cool chic’ edge and can really be worn anywhere and anyhow!

Look at these pics with Red and Rouge turbans, you can find them here
