We did it! We celebrated The Touch of Spain Afterwork party and we going to explain all the details.

The first thing that we choose was the place, The Roger Smith hotel was perfect for the location for an after work party and we save the date, May 13th.

After a week promoting the event, the day finally arrived. We started to set up at 11 am, we had a lot of details to take care about, and we wanted that everything was as perfect as we designed.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2328.JPG

The Roger Smith Hotel Bar, the Lily’s, was empty, we had a lot of work to do. Gloria, Katharina and me created the Beiñ touch with all the Spanish designers: there were some clothing hanged in the ceiling, the information of the designers was in the table, there were two racks with the collections, the shoes and accessories were around the whole room and the pictures of the shooting to show the people all our work.

The featuring brands were: Guiem, Traka Barraka, Ecoology, Aiby Craft, Red and Rouge, Sueños de Lucia, Celia Valverde, Stigma NYC, Yaninna Luxury Shoes y Bhava Studio.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2320.JPGb2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2321.JPG

Isa designed a cool video, that you can see here of the making of from the shooting, which was reproducing all time, the photo buzz with the Spanish complements to take pictures was in a corner, ready for the pictures. We create a little space where you could decorate and paint your own ecologic bag, a funny activity to complete the after work party.

Finally at 2pm finally we were done, a long morning decorating and working hard to make The Touch of Spain party perfect.

The press and VIP guests started to arrive at 3, we offered some cupcakes and sparkling wine, they look delicious. We were ready!

We explain everybody all the details about Beiñ, about the designers, about our future projects…

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2327.JPG

Two of the designers, Francisca from Bhava Studio and Pedro Juan from Stigma NYC came to let people now more details about them and their brands. We were so glad about that and also took pictures and videos about the event.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2324.JPG

The happy hour that we offer was so good, sangria, beer and wine! At 5 pm we opened the doors for the public and it was a total success.

We received some visits like Paula Rey and her assistant, the photograph, and John and Oxana, two of our models with the outfits of the designers, he was wearing Guiem and her Sueños de Lucia. Also Gustavo from Idea Catalyst came to enjoy and Kelly Hoey with Celia Valverde outfit, she was incredible! Here some pics of the event

After a long day selling, explaining and showing The Touch of Spain to everybody in New York, we could say that we did a good job. Thanks to the assistants to come and let us have a nice afternoon.

We will have more events coming soon, keep tune in!

Colorful, sun, happiness and good mood are the messages that Guiëm wants to trasmit with his spring/summer collection.b2ap3_thumbnail_5.jpg

We met him in a typical underground area in Madrid, Malasaña. This place is amazing to get new ideas and see new trends.

We said hello and he started speaking about his new collection...

This is a collection very different of the others because the designs are more simple and easy to wear. The whole collection is based on sweaters and T-shirts grey and white. And as a good new this collection is UNISEX so women can wear it too.

Geometric lines and pastel colors are the protagonists of the collection. I wanted to create funny, comfortable and atemporal clothes.

Also I wanted to play with the "twin" concept is when you can combine your clothes with your couple, friends...

b2ap3_thumbnail_2.jpg

We saw the designs and we love them and the UNISEX concept is amazing but we want to know a little bit more...

With this collection I want to transmit the spring touch, hacines  good weather...is the time to do what you want and enjoy everyday. Spring is the time to be different and be free and my designs say it.

We touched the designs and what kind of materials do you use?

Cotton is the protagonist as in the other collection, but I have used in some of them polyster to make the clothes lightest and with best fall.

And what is your favorite design?

I love sweaters of Love and Hate, they are my favorites. I think this creation reflects perfectly the love/hate relationship we have.

b2ap3_thumbnail_4.jpg

And now we want to know more about future plans for the brand, what are the following steps?

The idea is continue looking for new sales points in USA, Europe and Spain. I trulla think that you can make it real when you have a good distribution network.

When you talk with him is really nice..."good mood" and you can see it in his designs but how is the client of Guiëm?

I think they value the originality and creativity, they like to wear what they are. People that feel in a good mood all time and they always see the positive

part of the things. I would like this will be the essence of Guiëm and the people that wear it.

b2ap3_thumbnail_3_20150330-132841_1.jpg

And for ending... as a Made In Spain deisgner we want to know what have been the best moment for the brand?

The best moment is when you see and hear good thing about the brand and when the costumer starts to feel the brand.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0198.JPG

We meet Eva at Moda 22, a coworking space where she develops the Ecoology designs. She has her own space, a small and charm office. There is a White closet where she keeps the clothing patterns. Also there is a sign where you can read I buy, I decide. It is the slow fashion movement slogan. In the table there is a computer where she designs, the inspiration book and some fabric samples. The office has a hanger and shelves where she has her work. "THE EVA´S WORLD"

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0188.JPG

Eva explains to us a little bit more about her New Spring/Summer 2015 collection, where the up cycling has an important paper. Black is the unique color and it makes contrast with the red flowers prints from the up cycling fabrics. We love the effect and the style and we fall in love with the collection from the first moment.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0235.JPGb2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0239.JPG

This time the fabrics are organic cotton mixed with up cycling fabrics. The lines are simples and straight. In the new collection there are shorts, skirts, t-shirts, dresses and jackets. This is a 6 clothing capsule’s collection where Ecoology surprise with the design and creativity MADE IN SPAIN.

Eva shows us the Moda 22 ‘s showroom where we can see all the clothing. Also she explains to Beiñ how design one of the most original clothing of the collection: the t-shirt with a web in the back.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0263.JPG

After spend with Eva such a fabulous morning we have to leave. We hope to see this new Spring/Summer 2015 collection MADE IN SPAIN in the New York’ streets. Definitely we love it!

SUEÑOS DE LUCÍA, MADE IN SPAIN BRAND

Lucia is waiting, she is in Moda 22 Hall, the coworking space where she has Sueños de Lucia office. She is so friendly and she has cute accent from the south os Spain. She is wearing a purple t-shirt from her collection and we love it. While we’re taking coffee I start the interview.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0157.JPG

How does Sueños de Lucia start?

The Brand was born as an accessories Brand, I did belts, bracelets…but it was at the beginning. After that I changed to  clothing designs.

And where the name comes from?

The name comes from an Eduardo Galeano’s tale that a friend wrote and dedicates to me. It was called Lucia’s Dreams. I really love it so I decided to use it for my Brand.

How do you describe your Brand style?

When I start I wanted to focus to the couture because of the fabrics and materials treat. But right now I define my Brand as an urban and for the night instead.

b2ap3_thumbnail_portada.jpg

What makes to you dedicate to fashion?

When I was a child I lived the artisan part with my grandparents; the leather, the couture or the kitchen. I started to get interest for the design, couture…and here I am.

Williamsburg is one of the most modern and alternative neighbourhood in Brooklyn because a lot of artists moved here. It has really good communication with the subway and buses, so that makes it a perfect place for all the art lovers and people with their own style.

b2ap3_thumbnail_8.png

Bedford Avenue is one of the most important streets and we can see the lifestyle of Williamsburg; bicycles in the street, fresh flowers in the stores, graffiti everywhere or commercial stores are mixing here. The buildings look so similar to the Soho ones, old constructions, fire escapes in front of the street but still keeping the New Yorker style.

b2ap3_thumbnail_9.png

Walking around we find Soot and Tusk, a cute store for emergent and sustainable designers. They have a extend clothing and accessories collections for women and men and the store has a modern style with metallically pieces as furniture.

b2ap3_thumbnail_2.png

In the hangers of this place in the middle of Williamsburg there are Guiem and Ecoology, two ecologic and made in Spain Designers. In one hand Guiem’s collection gets some colour for dress alternative guys who want have style. On the other hand Ecoology makes you fall in love with their designs, they make you look fabulous and invite you to take the life slower and enjoy more of the little things.

Barcelona, Gracia District. A place where the time doesn’t stop. It is hard to understand that in a city as Barcelona you can have this kind of feeling. Same stores as always, the neighbours say hello and you know everybody, these are some of the factors that make you have this amazing experience. In these narrow streets with a long history, you could find Moda en Positivo, a place where you can shop eco fashion, and is where we find INTO by Vicens Pinto.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8490.JPG

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8504.JPG

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8492.JPG

There are a nice atmosphere and good energy when you enter because is the Showroom´s presentation of the new collection “Timeless Atrapando Sueños”. Everybody is enjoying the Event. Moda en positivo team, Beatriz and Albert, welcome me with a smile in their faces as always.

The clothes are incredible and so originals. I get close to Vicens and Giulia because I want to know a little bit more about their Brand. They explain me that INTO is an ecologic brand inspired in Mexico and North America, but it goes further. The linings’ clothes are made with fabric leftovers, they come from the clothes production, they pollute the environment and no one used to reuse them. This fact surprised me because I think that is something really original. It is a new way to create and reduce the pollution at the same time, a great job. Embroidery and details’ clothes are really creative. They transmit spirituality being that “Atrapando sueños” projects in their clothing with natural elements such as the moon and the sun because the tribe in which are inspire live in harmony with them. The collection counts with skirts, complements and jackets.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8496.JPGb2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8505.JPG

The showroom was celebrating to introduce the new Collection because it will be in Girona’s Fashion Week. The assistants celebrate and appreciate the work done by Vicens. After eat, talk and toast I decided go for a walk around the little and charm streets. This place is a must have stop for someone who visit Barcelona and wants to discover the heart of this city.

One of the most important points for the fashion inspiration in New York is the East Village. If you walk around the streets You can see upcoming trends, like a catwalk with the next season clothes.

The limits of this zone are from Third street until Bowery street until the East part of the river, between 14th and Houston street. A place that emanates culture. On the one hand it is the house of some artistic movements like Punkrock and Nuyorican. Why Am I explaining that? Because on the other hand, absolutelly everything in that place has something special: stores, propale, streets... That spark let you know that place create and move trendies, ideas and inspiration. You can see it in the graffities in the street, in the stores decoration or in the Way How they serve coffee.

BHAVA is a women's fashion shoe brand founded by designers Francisca Pineda and Rushali A. Sanghani.  The duo first met in 2006 while collaborating on runway accessories for Cynthia Rowley in Hong Kong.  Bhava is named after the designers' shared devotion to purity and consideration for others, the highest form of Bhava.

Francisca has come to Spain to visit some retailers with Beiñ. In these days Francisca has known how fashion industry works here and she wants to come back very soon. Now we are going to talk a little bit with  her about fashion industry, spanish fashion and much more.

b2ap3_thumbnail_FRANCISCA_grande.jpg

Why did you decide to manufacture in Spain?

In NY I am a member of a small SHOEMAKING group with many industry professionals.  Several of the members had mentioned the high quality of the Spanish footwear industry, and their positive experience.  I started asking around my contacts and was able to be introduced to several factories which I will be starting to produce with this Fall for  a high quality black label range in the Bhava assortment.

What are your favorite textiles to manufacture?

Bhava is a brand that puts ethical sourcing of local, artisan, and eco-conscious materials at the fore front.  For our next collection we are very excited to introduce new textures and hand painted details that the market has not yet seen in footwear.  We are always looking to break through boundaries of "traditional" footwear materials and introduce artisan products like hand-painted exotic embossed cork, or inlays of fine locally sourced metal mesh.  Every collection introduces a new idea, and is inspired but thinking outside the box for new materials from limited edition exclusive sources that have not yet been imported into the US.  We've also collaborated with artisans on limited edition runs of hand woven fabric that have been very well received by customers and retailers.

b2ap3_thumbnail_la-foto-5_20140930-173724_1.JPG

"There is a wonderful sense of play and fantasy in the work or the Spanish emerging designers."

What do you think about Spanish fashion? And the spanish emerging designers?

The word that kept running through my head when I was in Madrid during fashion week and seeing the designs from the emerging designers was a subtle underlying feeling of "surrealism".  It's not easy to describe , but there is a wonderful sense of play and fantasy in the work or the Spanish emerging designers.   Combined with an attention to detail, knowledge of high quality fabric treatments and flawless presentation,  I am very inspired by these designers and strength of the maker movement that I saw specifically in Barcelona.  Several of the apparel and accessory shops had open studios where you can see the product being made right in front of your eyes.  Authenticity, attention to detail, and effortless creativity are what you can expect from Spain's emerging designers.

Which steps do you think that designers must to follow to get into US market?

Before entering any market it is important to evaluate wether your product is right for each specific state and city in the the US, for example, California is very different from NY.  Once you have established what city your product works best in, it is important to research the small boutiques in those cities and contact those whose aesthetic and price point are the best fit.  Instagram, is very important here as well, and following the accounts of the local based retailers will give you a good idea of who their customer is and what are their most featured products are.  Having a line sheet priced landed, in US dollars will make it easier for boutiques to see if your product will fit in their assortment.  Most important is to put yourself in the boutique owner's feet and imagine how best to communicate the differentiating factors that your product brings to market that no one else can compete with.  Fashion is about what is new, you should be excited about presenting your collection and clear on why you think you can add value to their store.

"The US is one of the largest consumer economies, and in a luxury price point demands the high quality and attention to detail that can be found in Spain."

What do you think the US market offers to fashion designers?

I see two things happening in the fashion industry right now.  Opportunities for niche designs are opening up as e-commerce has increased the variety of choice that is available.  In some ways, niche shopping is creating mini-communities supporting indie designers, these seem small, but because of the increased international visibility of all designers all around the world there is an increased audience. Some things are getting very small and specific , while others are growing and increasing.  The US is one of the largest consumer economies, and in a luxury price point demands the high quality and attention to detail that can be found in Spain, because of this there is a demand for European made quality not just in the US but increasingly in Asia and other parts of the world that are looking to differentiate their assortment with authenticity and the centuries of craftsmanship that can be seen in countries like Spain.

What do you think about Beiñ team & work?

I have known the Beiñ team for a few years now as we have collaborated on events and now through my work in Spain.  Gloria and her team have always impressed me with their  professionalism, positive attitude, and attention to detail.  From an event flyer to organizing meetings, every detail and logistic is carefully planned to ensure success.  I highly recommend Beiñ for their experience, hard work, and the genuine passion that they put into every project.

Last day in 080 Barcelona Fashion Show we found a pop-up by Costalamel.

b2ap3_thumbnail_la-foto-1.JPG

Costalamel´s philosophy is expanding the ‘make la honey’ manifesto. Honey is an attitude towards life. It is being yourself and fighting for your dreams. It is positivism, zest for life. It is an ode to all those singular people who keep fighting to assert their values and ideals. That’s why we make associations with young designers and local workshops, with brave people who have the deep desire to change things.

b2ap3_thumbnail_la-foto-5.JPG

His founder and designer Ernest (in the pic above during the 080) told us the key to be different "We try to differentiate from established brands by putting love and attention to details in every design we make. We can do it because we have small productions. We produce every single t-shirt manually, paying attention to the smallest thing, repeating it if it just doesn’t fit. We design, manufacture and print all the garments in small workshops from Barcelona. 4 different steps made by 4 different workshops, each step is carried where it is better done."

Meet Eugenia

Welcome my fellow fashion rebels. If you have been keeping up with our Instagram {@BeinFashionSpain} you already know that we have a new PR Girl in town…, which happens to be me! You can call me Eugenia or by my name on social realms {@classy_eug}.

Where do I start? So I am currently a senior who is on track to graduate with a marketing degree in May of 2015. Surprisingly enough, all my fieldwork has been concentrated on fashion and events public relations.

A little more on a personal note now, I consider my self a food junkie and believe I was a hippie in a past life. I am a lover of all things fashion, especially street fashion. People-seeing is one of my favorite things to do. That is where I draw most of my inspiration. I am currently living between New Jersey {no, it is not that bad!!} and New York City. One of my biggest life goals is to learn how to fully embrace life and not hold back on anything.

I started working with Bein in September of 2014 helping out during Fashion Week, but am now back on a more serious note. I will take on the role of being Bein’s new PR Girl, which includes expressing my thoughts and fashion sense through this amazing, creative outlet called Bein Fashion Spain. Hope you all are as excited as I am!!

Just so you all have a heads up as to what my contribution to this blog will consist of, I will always be circulating something in the realms of fashion, lifestyle, and events that are happening around the area. If there is anything you classy people would like to hear about, feel free to connect with me! Also look out for a special segment where I will be exploring the different boroughs of New York. I will take a day where I go and explore the city streets that make up each specific borough inside out. Consider it to be my mini lifestyle tour guide to all things city-cool from me to you!

I am so excited to start this new journey and look forward to all the experiences this new professional encounter is about to bring me. It will be interesting, even for me, to see how a current college student takes on the task of being a PR Girl for a growing company while still juggling the college act.

With all that being said. Hope you all decide to hop on this trendy wagon with me and follow the blog regularly to read about my thoughts.

Make sure to follow our Instagram where you can catch every day pics of things I find cool, classy, and savvy.

Always remember…stay classy and do all things with love! MUAH

Shooting with the winners of Nolcha's ruffle.

Tuesday, June. One of those days with high temperatures and humidity in which you expect that it will start raining any second. This is how the day started on the planned shooting with the winners of the ruffle Beiñ organized for Nolcha Fashion Week.

Where did we meet? The north entrance of the High Line in NYC.

Who did we meet?
- The winners and amazing models Kate Ramsay (winner of this Ecoology dress) and Verónica Cruz (winner of this Angradema shoes).
- The Spanish fotographer and future collaborator of Beiñ, Sheila Curiel sheicreative.wordpress.com, who also brought the stylist Belén Vargas from BVR Stylist.
- And Cristina Merino representing Beiñ and coordinating the shooting.

At 2 o'clock we were all ready to start shooting with Kate and her Ecoology dress, but just then the rain fall on us! We managed to get some cover under the bridge and decided to wait until the rain stopped while doing the make-up and stylism to our two winners. Just like a miracle, the rain stopped at the same time as we finished preparing the two models and we managed to go on with the whole shooting without any more problems and with the perfect light to shoot.

b2ap3_thumbnail_10277289_634584536634355_163788577221327700_n.png

When did Guiëm start?

Fashion is something that I love specially men´s clothing. When I was a little boy my mind was full of designs and new kind of clothes that I have never found in the streets. Is for that Guiëm was born is a way to create.

¿Cómo definirías el estilo de la marca en una frase?

Nordic cut and mediterranean Style

What is the philosophy of the brand?

Guiëm  defines a men with a string style, someone that has clear ideas and wants to be different from the others. Guiëm is a way to express yourself trough out what you are wearing.

I think there are a lot of stereotypes in men´s clothing and we want to be free in this thinking.

What are the influences in Guiëm?

Trully I have inspiration from everything. I put special interest in details, they go to my mind and after I put these ideas in designs, Guiëm is a brand that Guillem Llul will wear.

Celebrity crush?

I love and admire Patrick Harris: elegance and easy manner in one person that I share as Guillem Llul

Any celeb wearing your brand?

Not until this moment.

What have been the key moments in Guiëm life?

Guiëm starts in March of 2014 so is very soon to say something or analyze what are the past special moments in the brand. But I have to say that is amazing the support from bloggers and media...is a reason to continue in this industry.

What does USA mean for the brand?

USA is a very important market for Guiëm and new for us, something that we have to explore and explote. EEUU is the country of opportunities so we hope to meet our costumers.

9. Tell us what is  Beiñ. for you

Go out from Spain, know a new market and an amazing opportunity.
