We were invited to TOUS x GALA event, in the heart of New York. An special event to present the new TOUS collection designed by Gala Gonzalez.

b2ap3_thumbnail_gala-x-tous.jpg

We arrived to the place, The Gary’s Loft, the decoration was very sophisticated and each detail was under control. There were balloons with TOUS on it.

There were three areas; the first one were you could enjoy the best Catalan wines, cava and cocktails by Anna de Codorniu and Raimat.

The second area were we could observe the capsule collection Gala for Tous with the presence of the “it girl” and designer Gala Gonzalez and Rosa Tous, who were there. The collection composed by earrings, bracelets, necklace and rings has the perfect fusion between the nature and the materials as ruby, emerald or diamond. We were totally in love, so elegant with a modern touch.

The third area The photocall where you could take frame pictures and wear Tous elements as sunglasses, bears or bags. After you could pick your picture and keep with you to remember the event.

Also it was a fantastic catering, the food was spectacular made it by a Spanish restaurant too. Tous wanted to keep the Spanish essence with the food, drinks and the guests. Some celebrities, bloggers and fashion media assisted the event too.

We enjoyed the afternoon; we have such nice time. It was time to leave, we picked up the gift bag, it contained Rosa perfume by Tous, a bracelet and the catalog with Tous for Gala collection. It was a cute present and we really appreciate it!!

In the 86th Street with 5 avenue there is one of the most famous museums in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art as known as MET.

This Museum has amazing exhibitions and is the largest art museum in the United States. The MET has art pieces from classical antiquity and Ancient Egypt, paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art.

In the temporal exhibitions spot, right now there is one called “China through the looking glass”. It is an amazing exhibition where you can see how the Chinese culture influenced fashion through the time and it became as an inspiration reference around the world.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_4001.JPG

The exhibition features more than 140 examples of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear alongside Chinese art. There are amazing art dresses by Valentino, Channel, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Cavalli or Tom Ford. Around three galleries of the museum; Chinese Galleries, Egyptian Galleries and the Anna Wintour Costume Center you can submerge in a bubble and feel like you are travelling through the time. The music, decoration, projections, and distribution make you lose track of time.

If you have a chance you can’t miss the oportunity to enjoy the art in all the ways, because fashion is an art too. Remember that and visit the museums!!

Where is the spring?

It is officially Spring. The temperature and the cloudy day don’t say the same. In New York everybody wants to wear fresh clothes and lay down in central park with a book in your hands. But the truth is that during those winter days people look for do plans in a different way.

We are going to recommend some plans during working days

Monday

To start the week the best you can do is go to the shop to the Farmer’s market at Union Square. The best places for buy fresh fruit and vegetables, an alternative choice instead the classic grocery store, even the day is not the best, you can breath some fresh air and get your fridge full with healthy food.

b2ap3_thumbnail_photo-new-york-city-farmers-market-union-square-cc.jpg

Tuesday

Do some running or Yoga in Central Park or Bryant Park. You can schedule in your calendar the next May 19th, where the new Bryant Park Yoga Season will return again. So meanwhile the good time arrives you can walk and see how the leaves turn to green or how the Spring is coming, a little bit slow but is on its way.

Wednesday

In the middle of the week, a good choice is to go with your friends to have dinner to Bagatelle, a French restaurant situated in the heart of Meatpacking. It is an amazing place; very light, sophisticated and elegant. You can feel the touch of spring in the food, the decoration. Really recommended place before you can do picnics in the parks.

Thursday

To look fabulous for the weekend you can go to do your manicure and pedicure. The nails need to be colored with a light and spring color for the sunny days. One of my favorite places is the Essie Nail Saloon also known as the Samuel Shriqui Salon. It is situated in the Upper East Side, so you can buy some clothes or just walk after the service. There you can relax and choose between the amazing Essie colors to be fashion this spring.

Friday

Friday is one of our favorite days of the week. Time to relax and get ready to receive the spring in the best Spa in the city, Aire Ancient Baths. Here you can relax your mind and your body, get a massage and prepare yourself for the Spring fashion clothing, the colors and the sun.

Colorful, sun, happiness and good mood are the messages that Guiëm wants to trasmit with his spring/summer collection.b2ap3_thumbnail_5.jpg

We met him in a typical underground area in Madrid, Malasaña. This place is amazing to get new ideas and see new trends.

We said hello and he started speaking about his new collection...

This is a collection very different of the others because the designs are more simple and easy to wear. The whole collection is based on sweaters and T-shirts grey and white. And as a good new this collection is UNISEX so women can wear it too.

Geometric lines and pastel colors are the protagonists of the collection. I wanted to create funny, comfortable and atemporal clothes.

Also I wanted to play with the "twin" concept is when you can combine your clothes with your couple, friends...

b2ap3_thumbnail_2.jpg

We saw the designs and we love them and the UNISEX concept is amazing but we want to know a little bit more...

With this collection I want to transmit the spring touch, hacines  good weather...is the time to do what you want and enjoy everyday. Spring is the time to be different and be free and my designs say it.

We touched the designs and what kind of materials do you use?

Cotton is the protagonist as in the other collection, but I have used in some of them polyster to make the clothes lightest and with best fall.

And what is your favorite design?

I love sweaters of Love and Hate, they are my favorites. I think this creation reflects perfectly the love/hate relationship we have.

b2ap3_thumbnail_4.jpg

And now we want to know more about future plans for the brand, what are the following steps?

The idea is continue looking for new sales points in USA, Europe and Spain. I trulla think that you can make it real when you have a good distribution network.

When you talk with him is really nice..."good mood" and you can see it in his designs but how is the client of Guiëm?

I think they value the originality and creativity, they like to wear what they are. People that feel in a good mood all time and they always see the positive

part of the things. I would like this will be the essence of Guiëm and the people that wear it.

b2ap3_thumbnail_3_20150330-132841_1.jpg

And for ending... as a Made In Spain deisgner we want to know what have been the best moment for the brand?

The best moment is when you see and hear good thing about the brand and when the costumer starts to feel the brand.

It is 12:30 in the morning and there is a lot of noise...

I’m waiting my friends in the corner of 16st with 7 ave. We are going to have brunch, our Sunday’s tradition, eat, drink and get energy to have a good week. Finally my friends arrive and we get inside to Cafeteria. It is a 7/24 restaurant where you can see Chelsea’s essence; stylish people, chic food and New york views.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_1260.JPG

Cafeteria is always crowded because is very popular for the fashion new Yorkers and one of the must have restaurants for this 2015. In the bar there are busy barman preparing cool cocktails. The appearance is very important and so chic with original details. When we sit, the waiter just comes to take note of our command. I don’t check the menu because I know perfectly what I want; smoke salmon with benedict eggs, my favorite.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_1262.JPG

b2ap3_thumbnail_SmokedSalmonEggsBenedict-small.jpg

After eat we still talking, in Spain is called "sobremesa". Finally we order some waffles, they’re delicious. It is already dark, how fast the time goes when you feel good, right? We decide to take a walk, we are so close to the Chelsea market and Meatpacking stores too. This area is one of my favorite in NY.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_3344.JPG

If we check Chelsea’s Street style for this 2015 winter we can see that long coats are the winner. Also high boots, black and White colors combination and cream are popular too with black totes. The sport outfit is trendy this year; buttons shirts, jeans and sneakers with a leather jacket are the perfect combination. This year keep warm and be fashion is not impossible

Road Trip, Part II

DAY 5- LOS ÁNGELES-HOLLYWOOD

We woke up early again. We were so excited to arrive to LA. The first thing that we found was a lot of traffic and the second one was a really hot weather. The first must have stop was the Dolby Theatre or Kodak where the Oscar's ceremony is celebrated. We had the breakfast right there because inside there is a Mall, really nice with an open ceiling. We already had the batteries charged and we went to see the walk of fame just in the same street.
In the most famous stars were caracters as Jack Sparrow, el Zorro or Superman. After that we went to visit the most famous HOLLYWOOD sign, although we couldn't get close it was enough to appreciate how cold it is. After do another stop to eat sushi we visit Beverly Hills and Rodeo St. its most famous street.
All the best designers stores were there, it was amazing.  I chose an outfit between sporty and chic with a high dark leather skirt combined with a black t-shirt and a pair of colorful New Balance. The Beverly Hills and LA styles were casual but with a lot of details and they were fusioned with the typical californian style, surfer rules!

DAY 6 VENICE BEACH- SANTA MÓNICA PIER- SAN DIEGO

Today we decided to go to the city beach. We walk between high buildings to see the most urban part of the city and after that the coast. We arrived to Venice Beach, one of my favorite places in this trip. There were graffitis, music, people with their own style, a really nice background to walk around. That place gave me inspiration. Everything was in harmony since the coconut trees, the people doing sport to the people going to the beach.
It was so sunny and the californian style was everywhere. After eat in the most famous pizzeria it was the turn to visit  Santa Monica's sunset. We arrived to the Pier and the ferrys wheel got our attention. Also at the Pier is where the famous Route 66 ends. The sunset was beautiful and we went to San Diego. The outfit today were shorts, an Star wars t-shirt and platform sneakers.

DAY 7-SAN DIEGO

We arrive to San Diego during the night and we saw a lightly skyline, it is a charming town. In the morning we visited the Garment district where you could find all kind of stores. After that we saw the sunset in the seafront and we had dinner in Little Italy and we got back next to the beach again.
A lot of people was doing surf and it was a nice ambient there, a lot of pubs and a lot of style. Everybody defines San Diego as the city that most represents the californian lifestyle and I am completely agree. It was some mexican influeneces because it is next to Tijuana, in the México border.
For that day I chose a summer outfit with shorts, a pineapple t-shirt and platform sneakers because I wanted to go comfy and fashion MADEINSPAIN
