We did it! We celebrated The Touch of Spain Afterwork party and we going to explain all the details.

The first thing that we choose was the place, The Roger Smith hotel was perfect for the location for an after work party and we save the date, May 13th.

After a week promoting the event, the day finally arrived. We started to set up at 11 am, we had a lot of details to take care about, and we wanted that everything was as perfect as we designed.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2328.JPG

The Roger Smith Hotel Bar, the Lily’s, was empty, we had a lot of work to do. Gloria, Katharina and me created the Beiñ touch with all the Spanish designers: there were some clothing hanged in the ceiling, the information of the designers was in the table, there were two racks with the collections, the shoes and accessories were around the whole room and the pictures of the shooting to show the people all our work.

The featuring brands were: Guiem, Traka Barraka, Ecoology, Aiby Craft, Red and Rouge, Sueños de Lucia, Celia Valverde, Stigma NYC, Yaninna Luxury Shoes y Bhava Studio.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2320.JPGb2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2321.JPG

Isa designed a cool video, that you can see here of the making of from the shooting, which was reproducing all time, the photo buzz with the Spanish complements to take pictures was in a corner, ready for the pictures. We create a little space where you could decorate and paint your own ecologic bag, a funny activity to complete the after work party.

Finally at 2pm finally we were done, a long morning decorating and working hard to make The Touch of Spain party perfect.

The press and VIP guests started to arrive at 3, we offered some cupcakes and sparkling wine, they look delicious. We were ready!

We explain everybody all the details about Beiñ, about the designers, about our future projects…

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2327.JPG

Two of the designers, Francisca from Bhava Studio and Pedro Juan from Stigma NYC came to let people now more details about them and their brands. We were so glad about that and also took pictures and videos about the event.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_2324.JPG

The happy hour that we offer was so good, sangria, beer and wine! At 5 pm we opened the doors for the public and it was a total success.

We received some visits like Paula Rey and her assistant, the photograph, and John and Oxana, two of our models with the outfits of the designers, he was wearing Guiem and her Sueños de Lucia. Also Gustavo from Idea Catalyst came to enjoy and Kelly Hoey with Celia Valverde outfit, she was incredible! Here some pics of the event

After a long day selling, explaining and showing The Touch of Spain to everybody in New York, we could say that we did a good job. Thanks to the assistants to come and let us have a nice afternoon.

We will have more events coming soon, keep tune in!

Where is the spring?

It is officially Spring. The temperature and the cloudy day don’t say the same. In New York everybody wants to wear fresh clothes and lay down in central park with a book in your hands. But the truth is that during those winter days people look for do plans in a different way.

We are going to recommend some plans during working days

Monday

To start the week the best you can do is go to the shop to the Farmer’s market at Union Square. The best places for buy fresh fruit and vegetables, an alternative choice instead the classic grocery store, even the day is not the best, you can breath some fresh air and get your fridge full with healthy food.

b2ap3_thumbnail_photo-new-york-city-farmers-market-union-square-cc.jpg

Tuesday

Do some running or Yoga in Central Park or Bryant Park. You can schedule in your calendar the next May 19th, where the new Bryant Park Yoga Season will return again. So meanwhile the good time arrives you can walk and see how the leaves turn to green or how the Spring is coming, a little bit slow but is on its way.

b2ap3_thumbnail_images.jpg

Wednesday

In the middle of the week, a good choice is to go with your friends to have dinner to Bagatelle, a French restaurant situated in the heart of Meatpacking. It is an amazing place; very light, sophisticated and elegant. You can feel the touch of spring in the food, the decoration. Really recommended place before you can do picnics in the parks.

b2ap3_thumbnail_pg68_1.jpg

Thursday

To look fabulous for the weekend you can go to do your manicure and pedicure. The nails need to be colored with a light and spring color for the sunny days. One of my favorite places is the Essie Nail Saloon also known as the Samuel Shriqui Salon. It is situated in the Upper East Side, so you can buy some clothes or just walk after the service. There you can relax and choose between the amazing Essie colors to be fashion this spring.

b2ap3_thumbnail_M-na1012nf-essie-salon-int.jpg

Friday

Friday is one of our favorite days of the week. Time to relax and get ready to receive the spring in the best Spa in the city, Aire Ancient Baths. Here you can relax your mind and your body, get a massage and prepare yourself for the Spring fashion clothing, the colors and the sun.

How does N.u.s.k start?

N.u.s.k is the result my wises that are offer fashion without lose quality and style respecting the environment.

After several years working in different international brands such as Hoss Intropia or Sita Murt, I decided to create my own collection. The idea of create a fashion brand based on " slow fashion", I think is the better way to live fashion.

How do you define the firm?

Atemporal eco chic Made in Spain

What is the philosophy of the brand?

N.u.s.k offers clothes created by a process based on slow fashion concept, the objective is create a brand with style

The quality is a must and it is for that I use eco materials or recycled. The manufacture is local Made in Spain as the materials, we produce in spanish ateliers. The sustainability is fashion, is my way of thinking and it is for that you can see in my collection atemporal clothes going away the "fast fashion". You buy what you need, is better buy more quality and less quantity.

b2ap3_thumbnail_10997320_815241398566898_368814296694931490_n.jpg

What are the influences of the brand?

Nowadays there is a high saturation of fashion and you can find a lot of different fashion brands. For me when I created my own firm the most important thing was create a firm with criteria and classy. The challenge was make an ethic brand for real women that love and enjoy fashion.

The inspiration of my designs came from different concepts: discover the world, the urban thinking, the nature from the traditions to the contemporanean time. Every small detail makes my designs different.

b2ap3_thumbnail_39_r_skirt_0017_700_side.jpg

Celebrity crush?

Diane Kruger

Key moments of the brand?

N.u.s.k is a emerging brand so now every time is a key moment for me. In commercial terms I participated in  CIFF Copenhagen  and 080 Barcelona and they were very important moments for the brand.

What does USA mean to N.u.s.k?

USA is a market that give special important to eco fashion and has a huge market for slow fashion brands. For me is a chance.

And work with Beiñ?

It means the opportunity to open and explore a new market. I feel Beiñ as a common project.

Colorful, sun, happiness and good mood are the messages that Guiëm wants to trasmit with his spring/summer collection.b2ap3_thumbnail_5.jpg

We met him in a typical underground area in Madrid, Malasaña. This place is amazing to get new ideas and see new trends.

We said hello and he started speaking about his new collection...

This is a collection very different of the others because the designs are more simple and easy to wear. The whole collection is based on sweaters and T-shirts grey and white. And as a good new this collection is UNISEX so women can wear it too.

Geometric lines and pastel colors are the protagonists of the collection. I wanted to create funny, comfortable and atemporal clothes.

Also I wanted to play with the "twin" concept is when you can combine your clothes with your couple, friends...

b2ap3_thumbnail_2.jpg

We saw the designs and we love them and the UNISEX concept is amazing but we want to know a little bit more...

With this collection I want to transmit the spring touch, hacines  good weather...is the time to do what you want and enjoy everyday. Spring is the time to be different and be free and my designs say it.

We touched the designs and what kind of materials do you use?

Cotton is the protagonist as in the other collection, but I have used in some of them polyster to make the clothes lightest and with best fall.

And what is your favorite design?

I love sweaters of Love and Hate, they are my favorites. I think this creation reflects perfectly the love/hate relationship we have.

b2ap3_thumbnail_4.jpg

And now we want to know more about future plans for the brand, what are the following steps?

The idea is continue looking for new sales points in USA, Europe and Spain. I trulla think that you can make it real when you have a good distribution network.

When you talk with him is really nice..."good mood" and you can see it in his designs but how is the client of Guiëm?

I think they value the originality and creativity, they like to wear what they are. People that feel in a good mood all time and they always see the positive

part of the things. I would like this will be the essence of Guiëm and the people that wear it.

b2ap3_thumbnail_3_20150330-132841_1.jpg

And for ending... as a Made In Spain deisgner we want to know what have been the best moment for the brand?

The best moment is when you see and hear good thing about the brand and when the costumer starts to feel the brand.

We meet Eva at Moda 22, a coworking space where she develops the Ecoology designs. She has her own space, a small and charm office. There is a White closet where she keeps the clothing patterns. Also there is a sign where you can read I buy, I decide. It is the slow fashion movement slogan. In the table there is a computer where she designs, the inspiration book and some fabric samples. The office has a hanger and shelves where she has her work. "THE EVA´S WORLD"

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0188.JPG

Eva explains to us a little bit more about her New Spring/Summer 2015 collection, where the up cycling has an important paper. Black is the unique color and it makes contrast with the red flowers prints from the up cycling fabrics. We love the effect and the style and we fall in love with the collection from the first moment.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0235.JPGb2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0239.JPG

This time the fabrics are organic cotton mixed with up cycling fabrics. The lines are simples and straight. In the new collection there are shorts, skirts, t-shirts, dresses and jackets. This is a 6 clothing capsule’s collection where Ecoology surprise with the design and creativity MADE IN SPAIN.

Eva shows us the Moda 22 ‘s showroom where we can see all the clothing. Also she explains to Beiñ how design one of the most original clothing of the collection: the t-shirt with a web in the back.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_0263.JPG

After spend with Eva such a fabulous morning we have to leave. We hope to see this new Spring/Summer 2015 collection MADE IN SPAIN in the New York’ streets. Definitely we love it!

Malasaña is a neighborhood in the city centre of Madrid. It is known as the  alternative place to go, but why? Because of its strategic location between Chueca (gay tradition) and Argüelles ( near the University area ). The streets of Malasaña started its history with the movement called the Movida Madrileña of the 70s and 80s. That days this place was full of rock and underground culture around the night of Madrid, right now you can find there hipsters and it is place to find new brands , designers and full of trends and stylish people.

We start our route with old fashioned bar and pubs as Palentino or Casa Camacho were you can find low cost drinks, never forget to get on "yayo"

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMAG0450.jpg

b2ap3_thumbnail_Bar_Casa_Camacho_Madrid_Malasa_a.jpg

Penta or the Via Lactea are locals of Malasaña with a large tradition that keep a little bit of what it was during the Movida Madrileña.

b2ap3_thumbnail_LaViaLactea.jpg

b2ap3_thumbnail_El-Penta-Bar.jpg

If you are looking for a new outfit or discover colorful clothing, your shops are Trakabarraka or Lady Cacahuete. Monkey Garden is a place with cool brands and emerging designers clothes.

b2ap3_thumbnail_dsc_0772.jpg

b2ap3_thumbnail_monkey13.jpg

If you are looking for a second hand shop with vintage clothing you must go to El templo de Susu.

b2ap3_thumbnail_TemplodeSusuBig.ln_sitio-original.jpg

Now it is time to eat something, but where? Our recommendation is La Pescaderia or Clarita if your are looking for a good brunch.

As Cindirella story the shoe was the first role during it. A shoe is "an item intended to protect and comfort the human foot while doing various activities. Shoes are also used as an item of decoration. The design of shoes has varied enormously through time and from culture to culture, with appearance originally being tied to function." If I have to chose a good description for it will be "is the perfect complement that defines your personality"

Femme Fatal

Black, red with a vertiginous heel, the Pigalle by Christian Louboutin. This is the icon of the firm and the most fetish piece, the sensuality and elegance in your feet. You will be the queen of the world.

b2ap3_thumbnail_los_zapatos_mas_iconicos_de_la_historia_510433260_1200x.jpg

Naif girl

The glitter and patent leather are the fetish material. Miu Miu makes you in a princess of a story with its shoes Mary Jane.

b2ap3_thumbnail_los_zapatos_mas_iconicos_de_la_historia_513425567_1200x.jpg

Rock&Roll Star

Booty make of laces and leather is the most used shoe among models and actress. Parisian style mix with punk and rock describes this design by Alaia. When you wear them you will be a rock star in the middle of the show.

b2ap3_thumbnail_los_zapatos_mas_iconicos_de_la_historia_610840155_1200x.jpg

Sporty&chic

The sneakers is the most trendy shoe this season. You can combine with luxury dresses and you could find lot of collabs between designers and brands. However these are the shoes that every woman should have in the closet. Easy, comfty and chic. Vans by Kenzo and total white Converse.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Kenzo-para-Vans-primavera-verano-20133.jpgb2ap3_thumbnail_MTE5NTU2MzIyMzI4MjE3MDk5.jpg

Stylish girl

When you hear style your mind goes to stilettos and the king of them is Jimmy Choo. He started drawing his designs with eleven years, now is crime not have one of his designs in your closet. When you put on them you feel as you were walking in the red carpet.

b2ap3_thumbnail_fotos-jimmy-choo-tacones-aguja___2564-45384.jpg

Classy women

Pure class from Spain. You feel as a flamenco dancer when you put on them. This design by Angradema Lopez makes you sensual and elegant.

b2ap3_thumbnail_MODELO_3b_905.jpg

Sex on the city

If I say Sarah Jessica Parker and Sex on the city your mind goes straight to the Manolos. These shoes are the wish of every woman and when you are wearing them you don´y need anything else to shine and turn into the queen of the street.

After New York, Milan, Madrid, London and Paris fashion show we have chosen some trends for next season across all designers from emergent ones to famous.

I guess as truthful fashionistas, you know a thing or two about Fashion Calendar. But, in case you have any doubts, let me share some quick insights with you.

-       There are 2 seasons in the Fashion industry: Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter. You might have seen before written “SS14 collection” for example, which means “Spring/Summer 2014 collection”.

-       Fashion works usually 6 months in advance. Therefore, Spring/Summer collections are showcased in September of the previous year and Autumn/Winter collections in February of the same year.

-       For designers it’s very important to keep in line with this calendar because it’s when buyers make orders to fill their stores in the next season.

-       This means that the collections we have seen during New York Fashion Week this February won’t be available for us, the final consumers, until next September!

As you see in the image, Season 2 is presented and carried out between January and August but prepared during the whole previous year.

Many believe that this Fashion Calendar has no sense, neither for independent and emerging designers nor for well established ones. Some of the designers who have shown year after year at New York Fashion Week in the past, spending thousands of dollars on it, have decided to change their strategy this year by saving huge amounts of money spent in runways that at the end, don’t generate any sales.

As I said before, buyers generally follow this fashion calendar to make purchases and fill their stores, but at the same time, it has no sense either! Us, the consumers, we want to buy the pieces we see in media right after seeing them and not to have to wait 6 months for them to come to stores. The old Fashion Calendar is no longer applicable in today’s extra-demanding and flexible culture.

It is for this reasons that many designers have jumped into alternative ways of promoting their collections out of the traditional calendar including participating in collective pop-up stores, opening their own, hosting a brand presentation, carrying a trunk show, etc. These are all alternatives that bring closer the designer with their final clients, cutting on costs and preventing waste.

That is more or less the philosophy Eva follows with her brand Ecoology, one of the most successful collections in our store!

As the designer of a sustainable menswear line stated, “designing off-calendar and specifically for the needs of our customers means that our energies are invested in what is truly important: producing a quality sustainable product, keeping marketing costs to a minimum and passing on the savings to our customers.”

In Beiñ, The Touch of Spain we believe in this new movement, we believe we are in need of a change and that is why we bring you our brands through small events and pop-up stores in the city all around the year! Fashion calendar has to adapt itself to the new world and flexibility is the first milestone it will have to achieve!
